Obituary For Bertha M. Wilcox

Bertha Mae Wilcox, was born May 9, 1943 in Mt. Sterling, Alabama to the union of the late Amelia Blanks and Charles Turner. She quietly passed this life Thursday April 25, 2019 at a local hospital surrounded by family. Mother Wilcox was affectionately known to family and friends as “Elouise or Mommie”.

She was reared by her late Maternal Grandparents, Horace and Amelia Jackson Blanks and late stepfather, Joe “Buddy” Eddie, Jr. She accepted Christ at an early age, where she was a member of The Church of God Pentecostal of Butler, Alabama; after relocating to Mobile, Alabama she united with the Freewill Pentecostal Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Floyd Langer, and after his passing, she remained a devoted, faithful, dedicated member under the current shepard Pastor, Bishop Robert Lofton.

She was preceded in death by 6 siblings, Ida Jean Coleman- Smith, Deloise Davis, Bobby Joe Eddie, Mattie Eddie- Capers, Charlie “Cap” Eddie, Eliza Dean Eddie and Brenda Eddie.

She leaves to cherish her memories a Loving, Devoted husband of 60 years, Lura D. Wilcox of Mobile, AL. (5) Devoted Daughters, Gennette (Oliver) Jones of Sweetwater, Alabama ; Florita Jessie of Columbus, OH; Zina (Windell) Chalmers of Dallas, TX; Tamika (Fredrick) Marshall and Shamarcus Wilcox both of Mobile, Al . (2) Devoted Sons, Lura D. Wilcox, Jr of Mobile, Al and Kevin (Kennie) Wilcox of Grand Prairie, TX. A Loving Step-mother Viola Turner. (3) Sisters, Prentella Smith of Putman, Al; Peggy Sue (Morris) Manning of Gainesville, FL and Debra Turner of Detroit, MI. (3) Brothers, Gregory, Toney and Charles Turner, Jr all of Detroit, MI (3) Brother-in-laws, Jessie Ruffin, Jr of Mobile, Al; David Ruffin of Covington, GA and William Ruffin of Albany, NY. (6) God-Children, Renea Collier, Kierra Thompson, Ella & Nikki Barron, Travis Spinks and John Evans. 19 Grandchildren, (1) Devoted, Demann Wilcox, 12 Great Grandchildren and a host of other Nieces, Nephews, Cousins relatives and friends, (10 Devoted, Dorothy Wallace.

Visitation will be held Saturday May 4, 2019 at Freewill Pentecostal Church ( 6000 Biloxi Ave) Mobile, AL from 10am until the 11am Life Celebration with Bishop RTobert Lofton, Pastor and Elder Landon Adams, Officiating. The Earthly bed of rest will follow in Pine Crest West Cemetery in Mobile, Al
