Obituary For Mr. Ira Polk, Jr.

“For I am now ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing” 2 Timothy 4:6-8 Ira was preceded in death by his mother, River L. Preston and father Ira S. Polk, Sr., sister Juanita Jordan; brothers Joseph Polk and Lige Rogers and devoted nephew Lorenzo J. Nettles. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Bessie Lou Henry Polk; two sons, Richard and Adrian Polk; four grandchildren, Janell Toney, Alyra Larry, Tiana and Tristian Bridges; two great-grandchildren, Dallas Payne and Brody Toney; a devoted niece Ashley Thompson; two devoted nephews, Cory Thompson and Eric Thompson; six brothers, Richard, (Mary), Norris (Auwilda), John (Mary), Gerald (Iola) Polk, Robert Preston (Sandy) and Forrest Lett; three sisters, Rose Hardy, Callie (Ralph) Marshall, Evelyn (Grady) McMillian; one devoted sister-in-law Shirley Wells; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends Funeral services for Mr. Polk will be Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 2:00 pm at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 3724 Davis St., Moss Point, MS 39563. Visitation will be Friday, March 8, 2019 at 6:00 PM – until in the chapel of Robinson’s Friendly Funeral Home, 4301 Main St., Moss Point, MS.
