A Celebration of Life for Brother Charles Sherry Sr. will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 2504 E. Chipco Street, Tampa, Rev. Dr. Bartholomew Banks, Sr., Pastor. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
Brother Charles Sherry Sr. was born on May 26th, 1927 in Miami, FL. He was a lifelong resident of Tampa, FL and was educated in the schools of Hillsborough County. Mr. Sherry served his country faithfully in the US Army and went on to work for 40 years with The International Longshoreman’s Association until retirement. Charles was an active member of the St. John Progressive MB church where he was the former president of the male choir, member of the Keenagers, and a member of the Distinguished Gentleman. He was also the oldest active member of the #10147 VFW Post in Tampa.
On April 25, 2019, Charles went home to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents Allen & Kate (Katherine) Sherry. Wives, Annie Mae Snow- Sherry (deceased) and Janie Brooks- Sherry (deceased). He leaves to cherish 8 children: Brenda J. Snow, Edward Snow and wife Nadine, Towanda Sherry, Charles Sherry, Jr. and wife Debra, Mary Sherry Watkins and husband Lincoln, Tezland T. Sherry, Allen Sherry and wife Angie, Mark Sherry and nephew Edward Amos, Sr. Step children, Janet Brooks, Rev. Allen Brooks Jr. and wife Melinda, Dena Fleming and husband Vernon.
Grandchildren: Darcel Codrington, Himbya Sherry and wife Virgin Mary, Ikiea Sherry, Shani Sherry, Rashida Towler, Shaquan and husband Alonzo, Fulani Daniel, Tumaini Sherry, deceased, Diallo Sherry, Amari Zupa and husband Burt, Shawana Sherry Mention and husband Corey, Chibale Young and wife Denise, Simbarashe Sherry, Amandala Daniel, Edward Sherry, Joia Sherry, Seyoum Sherry, Ary McMillian, Antashia Sherry, Shantay Sherry, Zamaria Sherry, Joshua Sherry, Natalia Sherry, Allen Brooks III, Felicia Brooks Haynes, Tiffany Mays and husband Charles, Jonathon Weaver and wife Ebony, Alphonso Brooks, Phillips Brooks and wife Amy, Travis Fleming, Cynia Fleming. 25 Great-Grands and a host of other relatives from the Davis, Jenkins, McBride families & countless life-long friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Integrity Funeral Services, 3822 E. 7th Avenue Tampa, from 6-8 p.m.
