Obituary For Mrs. Sarah Ann Godfrey

Sarah Ann Godrey was born on November 18, 1951 in Latta, South Carolina to Walter and Daisy Thompson. God called her to be with Him on Wednesday, May 8, 2019.

She received her education from Latta High School, Latta, South Carolina. She later attended college, where she received her Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate. This was certainly her calling from above! She not only attended to the sick, but she welcomed her opportunity to walk in her destiny and spread God’s message of love, repentance and the need for baptism. If she was able to share this with just one person a day, she would say “I am just doing what God requires of me!” In caring for the sick, she came to admire two patients in their faith, Mr. George Bethea and the late Mr. Connie Rogers her warriors of God!

Sarah joined the Bright Light Apostolic Church at an early age. Later, through her Christian experience, she joined New Memorial Temple of Christ Anointed Church, Inc. there she served with honors as Sunday School Teacher, Usher Board Director, a member of the choir and one of the mothers of the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Walter and Daisy Thompson; her husband of many years: Ulysses Godfrey; her three children: Steven, Shannon; Anthony Godfrey; five brothers: Wesley Thompson, Lewis Thompson, Marvin Grice, James Grice and Nelson Grice Jr. and her oldest sister: Minnie Thompson Myers. Sarah leaves to cherish loving memories ~ three children: Venita Godfrey of the home, Maurice (Jarvette) Godfrey of Columbia, SC, Timothy (Bonnie) Godfrey of Goldsboro, NC; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one god-daughter: Alicia “Peaches” Shoemaker; one sister: Mary McInnis; four brothers: Walter (Gloria) Thompson, David (Sheila) Grice, Johnny (Flo) Grice, Willie (Sandra) Grice; two brothers-n-law: James Myers Sr. and Berkeley (Earnestine) Godfray; three sisters-n-law: Alice Godfrey, Lula Jean Hamilton and Floren Grice; her loving mother-n-law: Mother Lula Mae Godfrey and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, each special and dear to her heart.
