Obituary For Mr. Melvin Blalock

MR. MELVIN BLALOCK – Age 69, of Atlanta, Georgia and formerly of Dalton, Georgia passed away Friday, May 10, 2019 at Grady Hospital. He was born on June 8, 1949 in Dalton, Georgia to the late Woodrow Wilson Blalock, Sr. and Muriel Burse Blalock. He was employed at CVS Drugs for thirty-five years as a Pharmacist.

He is survived by his wife, Melbahu Ross-Blalock of Atlanta, Georgia; son, Melvin (Luwanda) Blalock, II of Savannah, Georgia; daughters, Karen Blalock, Elizabeth (Derrick) Benson of Dalton, Georgia; love sons, Winston Warrior, Dwayne Warrior, and Johnny Warrior; grandchildren, Destiny (Chad) McCloud, Alexandrea Blalock, Melvin Blalock, III of Atlanta, Georgia; Jacqueline Blalock, Xavier Benson of Dalton, Georgia; Brandon Grant, Olivia Blalock, Benjamin Blalock of Savannah; love granddaughter, Noemi Warrior; sister, Joann Harris; brothers, Woodrow Wilson Blalock, Jr., Jimmy Lee (Margie) Blalock, and Tim Pender; aunts, Allene Watson and Adel Tibbs; uncle, Walter Watson; nephews, Gregory (Eve) Blalock and Tony (Retha) Blalock; cousins, Jerome (Martha Ann) Watson and Doris Ann O’Neal; and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Mark A.M.E. Church, 3605 Campbellton Road, S.W., Atlanta, Georgia 30331, with Rev. Forest Dickey and other ministers officiating. The family will receive friends at Willis Funeral Home 2011 Martin L. King, Jr. Blvd. Dalton, Georgia 30721 on Wednesday Evening from 5:00 until 7:00 P.m. with Bishop Bennie Tibbs officiating. His remains will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour. Interment will be held on Friday at 11:00 A.M. at West Hill Cemetery in Dalton, Georgia.
