Mr. Victor L. Parker, 68, of High Point, NC died Sunday, May 19, 2019. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Perry-Spencer Funeral Home Chapel in Madison, NC. Burial will be in the Sand Hills State Veterans Cemetery in Ft. Bragg, NC on Thursday, May 30, 2019. The family will visit with friends from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Victor was born on January 28, 1950 tot he late Irene Dalton and t;he late James C. Parker in Madison, NC. On May 19, 2019, Victor unexpectantly made his transition from this earth. Vic was a proud graduate of Baltimore City College. He furthered his academic studies at Rutledge College, achieving the Dean's list multiple times. Vic served in the United States Army for 20 years and was a proud soldier even after retiring. He always said "I am the 82nd Airborne" and would then salute to get a reaction from his nieces and nephews. Because of his allegiance to the Military, he traveled internationally during his military career. After retiring, Vic continued government service with the US Dept of Veterans Affairs in Fayetteville, NC also serving as a board member. He continued that work in Atlanta, GA, for a combined 18 years. Vic held several jobs as "chef" in various locations throughout GA, MD and NC until his transition. His most distinguished characteristic was his "amplified voice." When he spoke, you would hear him before you saw him. Vic was an avid sports fan. He loved his "Pittsburg Steelers" and you could not bother him at game time. He also enjoyed baseball, basketball and bowling. Vic was a stylish dresser at all times in men's slacks, hats, shirts and of course his "Stacy Adams" shoes. He even dressed to watch the games on TV. Vic was also a member of the Fraternal Mason Org. He held many titles. He was affectionately known as Papa, Sgt Parker, Uncle Vic and Mr. Parker. To truly know him is to know that he loved his family. Vic was quick witted and entertaining, full of humor and laughter for everyone, mostly stories about himself. He enjoyed old school music, Freddy Jackson, Peabo Bryson, Gladys Knight, James Brown and Michael Jackson. We all know Vic loved his "Michael Jackson-Glitter Glove". Vic recently talked about attending church. Our father knew his heart and transitioned him from an earthly soldier to a heavenly one, no longer on the battle field. Victor leaves to cherish precious memories: his wife; Loretha Parker, son; Darren (Karen Tyrance), daughter; Feama Martin (preceded in death 2010), three grandsons; Anthony (AJ), Demarion and Christian Parker, one granddaughter; Anniyah Parker all from North Carolina. Three brothers; James Parker (Carolyn) of MD, Reginald Parker of MD and Kevin Parker (Sherry) of GA, five sisters; Judith Langley, Verna Squirrel and Sherry Dalton all of MD, Jeanette Jackson (preceded in death, 2014), Trina Harvey (preceded in death, 2006), two aunts; Mattie McLendon and Mildred Saulsbury, uncle; Jonnie Moore (Penn) of MD, stefather; Walter Phineas (preceded in death), and a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins,friends and coworkers.
