Obituary For Ann Blake

Ann Ballard Blake lived sixty-four years, as long as she could. She left us on the 2nd of June 2019, surrounded by kindness and care. Ann loved her family and friends, so many of us, and she gave us so much. Ann loved learning. From classrooms in Washington DC, Istanbul, Dar es Salaam, Houston, Austin, College Station, Corpus Christi, and Tallahassee, she taught thousands of young people to read and write and think. Ann took joy in nature and literature. And for all her life long; She danced every dance, and sang every song. A memorial service for Ann Blake will be held after the manner of Friends (Quakers) at Maclay School, Saturday 8 June at 5pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Big Bend Hospice.

Guest Book

Ms. Blake was a master teacher of literature and history (my favorite of all my maestro y maestras) and an intellectual beacon for lonely bookworms and avid students of history. She was a firm believer that much can be said/signified by few words if none at all. A class singing union songs, watching Charlie Chaplin movies, re-enacting Supreme Court trials, reading my first American 19th c. classics, etc are among my favorite memories. Silent, symbolic gifts were her specialty. From her, I received Carl Sandburg's biography of Abraham Lincoln and an appreciation of the spirit of rustic cosmopolitanism/internationalism that is America. I miss her dearly and wish her family the best. From an eternal disciple—KDP.

Accept our sincere sympathies in this difficult time you are going through. I have found the words of Psalms 46:1 really comforting. It reads: "God is our refuge and strength, A help that is readily found in times of distress." Our loving God is there for us if we ask for his help (1 John 5:14). I also have come to know that has made the SURE promise of a resurrection RIGHT HERE ON EARTH when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11).Can you imagine yourself welcoming back to life your loved ones? You can find at jw.org more about how our God, Jehovah, will do all this for us. ~ R&R Lopez

May her family be blessed with the comfort you need now and may you gain strength from your precious memories. The loss of a loved one is a heavy burden to bear, but special memories can help us to cope. May the God of comfort, Jehovah, help you to hold fast to the words of Jesus Christ at John 5:28, 29...what a marvelous time this will be! We can have our dear loved ones back in our arms at that grand reunion. Please accept my condolences.
