Obituary For Mrs. Gertie B. Mattox

Mrs. Gertie B. Maddox,78, of Crawford entered into eternal rest on June 6, 2019. Mrs. Mattox was born August 26,1940 in Oconee County, GA and later moved to Oglethorpe County, GA, where she resided until her health failed, at which time she relocated to Stone Mountain, GA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodson and Maggie Taylor; husband, Clifford Mattox; daughter, Roxanne Taylor; siblings: Martha Sue Kennedy, Jenny Brightwell, Clara L. Taylor, Ralph Taylor, and Clifford Taylor.

She is survived by her loving children, Jimmy (Gwendolyn) Taylor; Waddis (Cassandra) Taylor; Billy G. Taylor; and Janice Taylor (Ralph Goolsby); eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and a special nephew, William T. Kennedy of Atlanta, GA.

She was a long standing member of Brooks Mission Holiness Church in Stephens,GA under the pastorate of the Bishop James Walker (deceased) and Pastor Emma Walker. Later, she moved her membership to Love & Action United Church, where she remained an active and faithful member under the leadership of Pastor Rufus Whitlock.

Celebration of life services will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 1:00pm at Love & Action United Church located at 1071 Athens Road, Crawford GA. Interment will follow at Athens Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2019 from 10:00am - 8:00pm at the funeral home. The family will receive family and friends from 5:00pm - 8:00pm.
