MR. WILLIE MCARTHUR EVANS, affectionately called “Bo Dilly,” age 63, was born April 15, 1956 in South Hill, VA to the late Gerald, Sr. and Sallie Bet Evans and departed this life June 6, 2019 in McGuire’s Veterans Hospital, Richmond, VA at 10:39 PM.

At an early age he was baptized and joined Lambert’s Chapel RZUA Church. He was a graduate of the former Park View Senior High School.

In 1973 he enlisted into the U.S. Army and received an Honorable Discharge in 1975.

Willie was married to Mattie Giles.

Bo Dilly loved his family and people in general. He was the “life of the party”; always having a good time and made sure you were having a good time, too. He was self-employed as a painter for many years until he could not lift a brush anymore.

Bo Dilly leaves to mourn two sisters- Mary Duncan, South Hill, VA and Margaret (John) Sheppardson, Brodnax, VA; three brothers- Gerald Evans, Florence, SC; Jack (Margaret) Evans, Mebane, NC and Rev. Leslie (Margie) Evans, Brodnax, VA; foster sister- Bessie (Lee) Harris, LaCrosse, VA; sister-in-law, Rosenell Taylor, South Hill, VA; God-sister-Carolyn Walker, Brodnax, VA; devoted nephew and nieces- Ricky Dunson, Jr., Jakela Jones, Tiffany Duncan, Gearlitha Clark; his wife- Mattie Giles Evans, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

“Bo Dilly” said, “To my family: I don’t want y’all to be crying over me; I’m gonna get y’all one day. Go get a big thing of ice cream and chill out.”

“P.S.—Oh, I forgot to tell y’all, on my way home, I might get dropped off at the alligator pit in Florida.... Ain’t nothing changed. Love Y’all and Thank Y’all.”
