Obituary For Willistine Wafer

Willistine Louise Wafer was born on March 28, 1941 in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Bluitt Gibbs and Elbethel Evans Brown. She was the fourth of four children and the only daughter.

After spending her early years in Anadarko, Louise moved with her family to Lawton, Oklahoma where she attended school and raised her family. She earned the distinction as her senior class Salutatorian and graduated with honors from Douglas High School in 1959. Family and close friends called her "Sistah" since she was the only sister in the family.

She went on to earn an academic scholarship from Cameron University located in Lawton and she attended the university from 1959-1960.

Her career included an administrative position at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City and the regional program coordinator for the Camp Fire Girls of America. Louise also worked many years as a property tax clerk for the Comanche County Tax Assessor’s office. Louise also earned an associate’s degree in Applied Science from Murray State College in 1996.

Louise is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Paul Gibbs, Jimmy Gibbs and Eugene Adams. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Alfred Wafer, her daughters Stephanie Whetstone, Sheila Reid, Sherylyn Strong, Staci Bullard and Sylvia Green; nine grandchildren, one great-grandson, a host of nieces and nephews and four step-daughters.

Louise passed away on Thursday, June 6 2019. She will always be remembered as a kind, loving, passionate, God-fearing woman who enriched countless lives throughout her life.
