On May 13, 1972, he was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Lee Ruth Barnes.
He departed this life on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Archbold Medical Center, in Thomasville, GA.
He leaves to cherish his memories; three daughters Kimberly D. Barnes (Mableton GA), Tammy Jones (Boston, GA), and Deri (Cedric) Small (Thomasville, GA) and three sons; Corey Brooks, Pete Brooks, and Curtis Murray all of Boston, GA. Two sister; Stephanie A. Barnes, and Arnetha B. Wyche (CJ) both of Thomasville, GA. Three sisters preceded him in death; Dorothy Barnes, Connie Miller, and Gloria Barnes-Snell, two brothers preceded him death; Alfonso Barnes, and James Alvin Barnes.
Sister-in-law; Drew Etta Laster, Boston, GA Brother-in-laws; Morris (Falesha) Lamon (Thomasville, GA), Charles (Dorothy) Lamons (Boston, GA), Edward Lamons, Robert Lamons (Boynton Beach, FL), one aunt; Phronia Lilly (Columbus, GA), devoted nieces; Falesha Lamon, and Tracie Conage, a special friend; Mary Smith.
A host of grandchildren, and a grandson preceded him in death; Edward Christian, III.

Funeral Service for Mr. James Benjamin Barnes, Jr. will be held Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Richland Missionary Baptist Church, Boston, Georgia, Rev. Henry Mathis, Pastor/Officiating. Burial: The Boston Cemetery. Public Viewing: 12:00-7:00 PM – Friday, June 21, 2019 in the BTW Chapel.
