Obituary For Mother Doris Jean White

Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Doris J. White will be at 1p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Morning Star Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Bowman, Officiating.

Doris Jean (Moragne) White was born December 1, 1938, in Guntersville, Alabama. She was the seventh child born to the union of the late Roosevelt (Rose) and Mamie Lee Moragne.

At an early age, she received Jesus Christ as her Savior and trusted Him as the way to salvation. She received her formal education in the Attalla School System. She was united in matrimony to the late Clifford Jack White, and during their union eight children were born. She later joined Morning Star Baptist Church under the direction of Reverend L. W. Story and remained a faithful member until her departure from her earthly body on Sunday, June 23, 2019, surrounded by her loved ones. Doris was the matriarch of the family–a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

The love she gave stretched well beyond her biological family. Doris truly had a heart of gold and adoration for others. She never had issues with feeding or giving shelter to those without. Many of her kind deeds she held secret between the person and God. One of her many acts of kindness was becoming a donor for St. Jude Children’s Hospital for the last twenty years after her young granddaughter’s diagnosis of cancer in 2002.

She was preceded in death by: her brothers, Cleophus Moragne, Jeremiah Moragne, Payton (Pete) Turner, and Theodore Roosevelt Moragne; sisters, Helen Ruth Moragne, Velma Sue Rushon, Mattie Kate Boley, and Mary M. Moragne; one grandson, Antoine Pearson; great-grandson, Jerica Woods,Jr.; and great-great-grandson, Braylin Borden.

She leaves to cherish her memories: a loving companion, Larry Hill; two sisters, Dorothy Rose Mathis and Dorothy Ann Sayles, both of Gadsden, Alabama;children, Kenneth (Marilyn) Boley, Michael (Delphia) White, Shelia Hale, Loventrice White Lamar, Beverly (Melvin) Williams, Mattie White Jones, Ballinger White, Clifford White, Kerry (Yolanda) White, and Cassandra White; stepchildren, Gloria Phillips, Ruth White, Victoria Kendrick, Sandra Dial, Henrietta Brown, and Diane Brown; special godchildren, Ralph and Rita Kidd, and Rachel Childs; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends; and special friend, Ross Burnhart.
