Obituary For Ada Mae Stewart

The funeral services for the late Mrs. Ada Mae Stewart, who departed this life on Friday, July 12, 2019 in Detroit, Michigan, will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. from the Greater St. Luke Baptist Church in Ashburn, Georgia, with the Reverend James E. King, officiating. Burial will follow in the Westview Memorial Cemetery in Ashburn, Georgia. Mrs. Ada Mae Brown Stewart was born on March 28, 1919 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Cora and Lawrence Brown in Sibley, Georgia. Later, the family moved to Rebecca, Georgia. Ada attended the public schools in Turner County.

Ada Mae accepted Christ as her Saviour at an early age. In 1937, she met and married the late Mr. Charlie Joe Stewart. This union was blessed with ten children.

Ada Mae and her family attended St. John CME Church in Rebecca, Georgia for many years until the church closed its doors. Then they moved their membership to St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, where Ada Mae served faithfully until her health failed.

Ada Mae was very gifted in cooking and sewing.

In 2006, she moved to Detroit, Michigan to live with her family. On Friday morning, July 12, 2019 at 8:06 a.m., Ada was called from Labor to Reward. Her parents, Cora and Lawrence Brown, her husband, Charlie Joe Stewart, two sons, Calvin Stewart and Bennie Stewart, her brother, Wilbert Hall, and her sister, Emma Lee Butler, have all preceded her in death.

Ada Mae leaves to cherish her memories her seven daughters, Angie Lange of Tampa, Florida, Mary Rogers, Velma DuHart, Joyce (Leonard) Wade, Josephine (Calvin) Glenn, Vivian Robinson, Nellie Faye McKenzie, all of Detroit, Michigan; a son, Mack Stewart of Detroit, Michigan; twenty-six grandchildren, forty-four great grandchildren, twenty great great grandchildren, two great great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom are special to Ada Mae Stewart.
