Obituary For James Edward Mathews

MR. JAMES EDWARD MATHEWS- Age 65, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2019 at Quinton Health Care. He was a member of Mountain Ridge Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, James H. Mathews, son, Bruce L. Mathews, daughters, Elizabeth Mathews, and Kristen Mathews. He was a U. S. Army Veteran and he attended Dalton High School.

Survivors are his loving and devoted wife of seventeen years, Gwendolyn Ellison Mathews of Dalton, Georgia; children, James Edward Mathews, Jr. of Burlington, Vermont, Sara Mathews of Hinesville, Georgia, DeNorris (Jessica) Johnson, Steven Chaney of Dalton; two sisters, Gloria (W. James) Brown of Columbus, Georgia, Teresa (James) Copeland; mother, Christine Mathews; father-in-law, Charlie Ellison, Jr., of Dalton; aunts, Juanita Parks of Greenville, Georgia, Bernice McClendon of Bridgeport, Connecticut; uncle, Jessie Harris of Dalton; grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Special friend, Steven Sutton

Memorial Service will be on Monday, July 22, 2019 at 7:00 P. M. at Mountain Ridge Baptist Church, 1401 Martin L. King, Jr., Blvd., Dalton, GA. 30721 with Dr. Jerry D. Jones, Sr., officiating. James Will Truly Be Miss, He Was A Very Nice Guy . Always Very Respectful To The Young An The Elderly. And He Had A Smile That Could Turn Anyone’s Frown Up Side Down. Yes I’m Going To Miss My Old Friend. I Do Know This, He Is In A Better Place And By God Grace We Will Meet Again.
