The Homegoing celebration for Mrs. Katherine Morris Morgan will be held Saturday, August 03, 2019, at 11:00 a. m. at Anderson Chapel A. M. E. Church, 1307 Harlem Street, Tallahassee, Florida with Rev. Freddie Glenn, Presiding and her pastor Rev. Michael B. Price, Sr. Eulogist. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, 1601 Bainbridge Road, Tallahassee, Florida. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 5:00 – 7: 00 p. m. at the Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, Florida. Her remains will be brought to Strong and Jones Funeral Home, Tallahassee, Florida on Thursday, August 01, 2019 and will be open for viewing on Friday, August 02, 2019. She was educated in the public schools of Jefferson and Hillsborough Counties and attained and Associates Degree. Her employment included work in the health care field and success as an entrepreneur known as the “candy “and “frozen cup lady” of the Progress Village Community in Tampa. Prior to moving to Tampa in the late 1950’s, she resided in Philadelphia, PA. where she met and was formerly married to Mr. William Morgan, an Air Force Career Serviceman. After their union ended, she chose to remain in Tampa where she resided for more than sixty years. Her Christian teachings began early in the family home. However, it was as an adult that the accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a founding, dedicated and devoted member of St. James (Victory) A. M. E. Church where she was involved in many ministries and served faithfully until her health began to decline. Katherine was the third of nine children born in the Union Branch Community, Jefferson County, Florida to Clifton Morris, Sr. and Josie Messer Morris. Both parents and three siblings preceded her in death. She is survived by three sisters: Lillie M. Johnson of Denver, Colorado, Francenia M. Gilliam, Mary L. M. Anderson, Betty M. Foxx of Tallahassee, Florida, one brother Clifton(Sandra Dennis) Morris of Riviera Beach, Florida, three nieces, one nephew, a devoted neighbor, friend and her family Mrs. Annie Johnson, her church family, Victory(St. James) A. M. E. Church Tampa, Florida, customers, cousins friends, and God children.
