Deaconess Juanita Devore was born September 11, 1943. She was the youngest of seven children born to the late William Boles and Edna Wiggins Boles Stewart in Islandton, South Carolina. She transitioned to be with the Lord on August 5, 2019.
Sister Devore joined the Deep Creek Baptist Church as a youth. After marrying Deacon Willie Devore, the love of her life, she joined the Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church. She worked in various capacities over the years including the Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church Missionary Society, Usher Board President, Beautification Ministry and Finance Chair.
Educated in the public schools of Colleton County and Benedict College, she spent her entire professional career as an educator in the Hampto District 2 school system. She taught at both the high school and middle school for over 30 years and was selected Teacher of the Year for the 1990-1991 school year.
She was initiated as a member of the illustrious Psi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated on December 1, 1961. She was an active volunteer in her community where she served on various boards and organizations that included: Allendale County Rural Health Board, Voter Registration Poll Manager, Fairfax Women's Club and Allendale County Retired Educators.
Sister Devore was pre-deceased by her parents; stepfather, Walter Stewart; two sisters, Earnestine and Mary; and two brothers, Hercules and McQuillian.
She leaves to cherish fond memories her husband, Willie Devore; daughter, Juaniece "Shontell" DeSaussure; son, Willis (Felicia) Devore; brothers, Glynn (Betty) Boles and Edward (Earlene) Boles; grandchildren, Shontavian (Ramel) Drake, Taylor DeSaussure, Saypadia "Deuce" DeSaussure, II and Jaidyn Devore; one great-grandson, Mark William Drake, and a host of wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Homegoing Celebration for Deaconess Juanita Devore was held Friday, August 9, 2019, Three O' Clock Post Meridian at Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church, Fairfax, South Carolina, Pastor Terrance Thomas, Eulogist, Apostle, Dr. Joe Mole III, Presiding. Interment Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
