Mr. Evan Reyhan Lane (affectionately known as Ziggy) was born in Gadsden, AL on October 16, 1991. He was baptized at an early age at the Overcoming Church in Ashville, Alabama. He was loved by his family and so many friends. Evan had a magnetic and genuine personality; and a smile that would warm your heart. Evan graduated from Ashville High School with an Advanced Diploma in 2010, received an Associate’s Degree from Gadsden State Community College in 2012, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2018 where he was on the Dean’s List and inducted to the National Honor of Leadership and Success. Evan was a fighter who beat the odds of not making it past early childhood. Although there were obstacles, he chose not to give up, but to fight for life. He enjoyed life and got the greatest joy from making others smile. His wit was so smooth that you might miss something hysterical if you weren’t listening. He especially loved entertaining his nieces, nephew, and cousins. These children were Evan’s heart and he constantly spoiled them with gifts and a whole lot love. Evan also enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing video games, and reading. He loved playing poker. He won several poker tournaments. Most recently, he won the Heartland Poker Tour Champion Belt. He was a happy young man at the time of his passing. Evan passed away in Clinton, Mississippi on August 4, 2019 at the age of 27. I have had the greatest pleasure of knowing Evan Lane nearly all of his life. I have spent a lot of time with Evan, I would say he was my closest friend. Evan was a very special person to a lot of people, but he was so much more than what people saw at first glance. Evan was the type of person that would take care of the people he loved. He would take time to check on them, offer his help to them, and make them laugh when they needed it. The greatest gift Evan ever gave me was friendship, he was always quick to lend an ear or a word of advice to me. Evan would listen.... to me that’s the greatest thing, that he would listen to my problems or my passions. Having a friend that you can deeply communicate with and share conversation with is a true blessing. Evan meant the world to me, I will not find another friend like him. Evan left behind a wonderful family that I would do anything for. He was a very blessed person, his family loves him very deeply. My life certainly won’t be the same without him. I love you brother, I’ll see you again one day! “Big Guy” (I’d give anything to hear that one more time)

I am fortunate enough to have know Mr. Lane during his short time with us. As a friend of his brother, I spent much time around Evan as he supported his both his brother and sister at basketball games throughout school. His enthusiasm for life and love for his family was evident to anyone that had the pleasure of knowing him. To Evan's family, I offer my deepest sympathy and prayers for healing. To Evan, thank you for the lessons that you have taught the world while you were with us. Thank you for teaching me to take nothing for granted and that hard work will overcome the tallest of mountains. You are truly an inspiration to us all. - Justin Huff
