Obituary For Ervin Sabb

Mr. Ervin Sabb departed this life to be with the good Lord on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, in Arlington, Virginia. He was born on January 21, 1940, in Fuquay Varina, North Carolina and was preceded in death by his loving parents, Mattie Bell Sabb and Moses A. Sabb and sister, Ruth Will Slack.

Ervin grew up and was educated in the Wake County Public School System. After graduating from Fuquay Consolidated High School, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably during the Vietnam War Era for two years. Upon honorable discharge, Ervin moved to Alexandria, VA and had a long and successful career as an entrepreneur. He was the owner of the Hair Clinic on Queen Street. Additionally, he was a professional driver. Over a span of 50 years, Ervin worked as a master barber and professional cab driver, attended Washington Bible College in 1995, and became an active member of Ebenezer Baptist Church Alexandria, VA until his health declined.

Ervin was well known for his kind heart, gentle spirit, warm smile and selflessness. In between barbershop debates and banter, Ervin would often help whomever he could, often placing others’ needs above his own, which is undoubtedly why he was and will always be loved by so many. His hobbies included betting on horses at Historical Rosecroft Raceway in Maryland, fishing, playing cards, and enjoying his favorite meals at Red Lobster or the Waffle House in Alexandria . He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and a tenacious lottery player.

On July 30, 2019, Ervin’s loving light of life transitioned to his place with God. His last 5 years of life, residing in Arlington, VA were spent surrounded with love from his children, siblings, and friends. He enjoyed each day being attended to by his amazing caregiver (Jamima), great conversations and many laughs. He will forever be missed for his quick wit, charm and storytelling about the good ole days.

He leaves to cherish his memories three children: Anthony Leach(Sharon), Lane Galloway, and Saritah Sabb Grandchildren: Sentrel Leach, Shannon Leach, Delane Galloway, Bria Leak, Taevon Palmer, Tommy Ratliff, Daisha Galloway, Delane Galloway, Bria Leak, Ramon Beam. Ten siblings: Rebecca Sabb of Newport News, VA; Roy Lee Sabb (Ann) of Georgetown, TX, Vernell Sabb & Mozelle Sabb of Newport News, VA; Louis Sabb of Alexandria, VA; Isiah Sabb, Elijah Sabb (JoAnn), Moses Sabb, Robert Sabb (Jennifer) and Ronnie Sabb of Hampton, VA; and a host of many other family and friends.

Viewing will be Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at Ebenezer Baptist Church,909 Queen Street, Alexandria, VA 22314.

Funeral: Saturday, August 10,2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 909 Queen Street, Alexandria VA, 22314

Burial will be Monday, August 12, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at Quantico National Cemetery , in Triangle, VA
