Obituary For Charlie Cooper

Florence, SC - Funeral service for Mr. Charlie White "Rock" Cooper will be conducted 10:00 AM Friday, August 16, 2019 at Savannah Grove Baptist Church, 2620 Alligator Rd., Effingham. Interment will follow in Savannah Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC.

Mr. Charlie White “Rock” Cooper, the son of the late Queen Esther White Jackson and the late Joe Cooper was born March 30, 1954 in Florence, South Carolina. He departed this earthly life on Saturday, August 10, 2019.

Charlie affectionately known as “Rock” attended the Public Schools in Florence County.

Charlie was employed with Barcan Saw Mill; Taylor Nursery; as a custodian at Savannah Grove Baptist Church; and the Wash Tub, until his health declined.

Charlie was a member of Savannah Grove Baptist Church in Effingham, South Carolina and sung with the Male Chorus.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Tearsa Ann Howard; and a brother, Elghia Washington.

Charlie leaves to cherish his precious memories: two loving sons, Wendell Cooper and Maurice Williams both of Florence, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Kyle Walker and Kendell Cooper both of Florence, South Carolina; a brother, Claude Washington of Bronx, New York; a sister, Laura Ann Washington or Florence, SC; a devoted friend, Roxie Pringle; a loving nephew, Aaron Howard; a host of nephews; nieces; cousins; other relatives; and friends.

Charlie was an avid football fan of the Washington Redskins; he loved his family; singing and rocking on the Male Chorus; he loved the church; but most of all he loved the Lord.

The family will receive friends at Clyde Court Apts., 627 Gillard St., Apt. A., Florence.
