Obituary of Ruth Jones

Services for Emma Ruth Jones, 87, of Bridgeport, Texas will be 10:00 am, Friday, August 16, 2019 at Balsora Baptist Church, officiated by Jim Taylor. Burial will follow in Willow Point Cemetery, near Bridgeport. Pallbearers are Jason Jones, Porter Hodgson, Jody Baird, Otis Baird, Floyd Gunn, and Wesley Wice. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Townsley and Kallie Jones. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Thursday, August 15 at Hudson & Torres (formerly Jones) Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Ruth was born May 8, 1932 in Vineyard, Texas to John Calvin and Martha Louise (Watson) Morgan.

She loved to cook. She was a collector of cookbooks and stray animals and children. She could take government-issued cheese, milk and noodles and turn it into a delicious meal. She never met a stranger, and fed anyone who came to visit.

Ruth was a devout Christian and a member of Balsora Baptist Church.

She is survived by sons Glen Jones and wife Debbie of Weatherford, Texas, and Jody Baird and wife Daisy of Boonsville, Texas; daughters Phyllis Eisenman of Bridgeport, and Paullett Grimes of Garner, Texas; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Gail Tillman, brothers Claude, Jack and Clarence Morgan of Boonsville; sisters Mary Jo Hodgson of Bridgeport, and Mildred Doyle of Denison, Texas; and life partner J.P. Hodgson.
