Obituary For Mary Jean Jordan Barnes Gloster

Mary Jean Jordan was born May 23, 1939 in Valdosta, GA to Fannie Smith and Isaiah Davis, Sr. and moved to Douglas, GA where she was raised by her grandparents, Tom and Lucille Jordan.

She received her education in Douglas, GA graduating from Carver High School. While studying at Walker's Vocational and Commercial College in Jacksonville, FL, Mary visited her mom in Panama City, FL where she met and married Mr. Clifford Barnes. To that union two children were born; Dwayne R. Barnes and Delana Renae Barnes-Noble.

The Barnes family relocated to Fort Pierce, FL in 1962. Mary furthered her education at Indian River Community College and received an Associate in Arts Degree. She continued on at Nova University where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education.

Mary worked as a teacher's assistant in the St. Lucie County School System and as a teacher/site supervisor at ALPI Headstart.

Mary later married Mr. Bennie Gloster in 1998.

Mary transitioned into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, July 28, 2019.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Mr. Bennie Gloster of Douglasville, GA; children, Dwayne R. Barnes and Delana Renae(Elton)Barnes-Noble both of Fort Pierce, FL; step children, Jennifer Tyson of Douglasville, GA and Glen Gloster of Stone Mountain, GA; 6 grandchildren, Dwayne Barnes, Jr., Lamar Britt, Sr., Teione Noble, Lamonte Noble, Caleb Noble, and Sherman McKinnond; 16 great-grandchildren, Lamar Britt, Jr., Elijah Britt, Madison Britt, Kingston Britt, Amalia Britt, Isaiah Britt, Laniyah Britt, Azealia Britt, Na'Daijah Barnes, Kayla Barnes, Zyauna Barnes, Savion Barnes, Dayven Barnes, Yahnie Barnes, Omari Barnes, Sher'myiaa McKinnond; church children, Stacey and Trulette Noble; special people that touched her life, Mother Carter, Betty Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Ghent, William Holt, Poindexter Barriner, Albert Culver, Jr., Pastor Ron Reeves, Thomas Hamilton, Tina Bennett, Tristia Bellamy Perkins, Pat Starling, James Britt, Rick Lesane, Pastor Vernon Shazier, Johnny Bennett, Curtis Barriner, Carl Jones, Rouse Payne, Charles Russ, Leonard Brown, Roosevelt Oliver, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends who will miss her dearly.

Public visitation for Mrs. Gloster will take place on Friday, August 16, 2019 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Stone Brothers Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, FL. A Celebration of Life will convene on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the River of Life Fellowship in Fort Pierce, FL beginning at 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce, FL.
