Obituary For Dorothy Smith

Dorothy was born on December 9, 1942 in Thomas County, Georgia, to the late Nathaniel “Bud” Davis and Olivia Samuel. Dorothy had the best of two worlds, because she was adopted and raised by the late Artie and Josie Mae Anderson.

She was a 1960 graduate of Magnolia High School, where she was crowned the first Ms. Black Magnolia High School Homecoming Queen. She later attended Bethune Cookman College and Albany State College.

She was a faithful member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church for 50 plus years. Where she was the Pianist and played wherever she was needed until her health failed. She retired from the Thomas County Board of Education after 27 years of service. On August 9, 2019, the Lord carried her from Labor to Reward.

She is survived by a very loving and caring daughter and son-in-law, Sebrena S. (Timothy) Miller; One Loving Granddaughter, Ke’Ondra E. Small and to the union of Tim and Sebrena, she gained a bonus grandson, Malcolm Miller, Kennesaw, GA; She’s also survived by the loves of her heart, 3 Great-Grandchildren, Master Kameran Randall, Kaibry Randall and Chloe’ Thompson, all of Boston, GA; 3 Brothers, Robert Davis (Delois), Baltimore, MD, Vernon Davis (Brenda), and Les Davis, both of Atlanta, GA; 2 Sisters, Ella Francis Davis, Riviera Beach, FL and Bertha Powell, West Palm Beach, FL; 2 Sisters-in-law, Sheila Davis, West Palm Beach, FL and Willie Mae Atkins, Thomasville, GA; A loving and caring friend, caretaker, like a daughter, Lavern Williams; Praying In-laws, Bennie and Birda Miller; She had plenty of nieces, great nieces, great great nieces and one great great great niece; nephews and great nephews, great great nephews and cousins.

Funeral Service for Dorothy E. Smith will be held Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, Boston, GA. Public Viewing, Friday, August 16, 2019: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM in the BTW Funeral Service’s Chapel, Quitman, Georgia. Burial: Boston Community Cemetery, Boston, Georgia.
