Debra K. Porter Johnson

Nashville - Debra K. Porter Johnson, former Tennessee Department of Corrections Administrator, age 64, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019. She was born in Mt. Pleasant, TN on December 10, 1954. She was a graduate of Tennessee State University, a 38-year employee of Tennessee Department of Corrections and a member of 15th Ave. Baptist Church.

Debra leaves a legacy of love that will be cherished through her family. She was preceded in death by her father, Hazel F. Porter. She leaves behind a devoted mother, Annie L. Porter and three loving children: Stanley (Memory) Johnson, Dr. Shernaye Johnson, and Mychal P. Austin. Two sisters: Sherry (Denice) Johns-Porter and Daphne (Nathan) Christopher of Cerritos, CA and one brother Adrian (Sharonda) Batey. Seven grandchildren whom affectionately called her Gran-Gran: Kameron Johnson, Jourdain Morgan, Brooklyn Damond, Cason and Clarke Reed, Beau and Owen Johnson.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 15, 2019, 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM at 15th Ave Baptist Church, 1203 9th Ave North, Nashville, TN 37208. The family will be present at 4 PM. Funeral visitation will be held at 10 AM - 12 PM with funeral to follow at the Temple Church, 3810 Kings Lane, Nashville, TN 37218. The family will be present at 11 AM. Interment Greenwood Cemetery North.
