Mr. David Pittman

David Roosevelt Pittman was born on March 6, 1936 in Dillon County, South Carolina. He departed this earthly life on Saturday, August 17, 2019 in Columbia, South Carolina where he was living under the care of his niece. He was the son of Martha Pittman Smutherman and the late David Smutherman.

David was a member of Bernard Town Baptist Church in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. He was educated in Dillon County Public Schools system. Shortly there after he moved to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he was employed in Management at Luria Brothers Scrap Metal Company for thirty years until he retired. After her retirement he work with Lancaster School System until his retirement.

David was affectionately called “PA Road Runner” by his close friends. David was a loving son, brother, father and uncle. He enjoyed traveling in his Cadillac, fishing, listening to oldies and spending time with family and friends. David also enjoyed the company of beautiful women.

David was united in holy matrimony to Emma Pittman.

David was preceded in death by ~ his wife: Emma Pittman; one son: David Pittman; two sisters: Willina Green and Rose Smutherman; two brothers: Clifford Pittman and Thomas Smutherman; a step-daughter: Tijerina Williams.

David leaves to cherish his precious memories ~ his mother: Martha Smutherman of Dillon, SC; a sister: Sarah E. Rogers of Trenton, NJ; a special niece: Helen I. Bethea of Columbia, SC; two grandchildren: Dwayne Charles of Hamer, SC, Jerrell Pittman of St. Louis, Illinois; five step-children: Schaez Jackson of Dillon,SC, Tequilla Pouncey of High Point, NC, Kowaski Pittman of Durham, NC, Georgene Dixon of Fayetteville, NC, Kristen Pittman of Jonesboro, GA; three sisters-in-law: Carolyn Pittman and Bertha Manson both of Coatesville, PA, Mary Joccil Smutherman of Fayetteville, NC; one brother-in-law: Ralph Rogers of New York; seven great grands; one aunt: Cora George of NJ; his close friends: Wesley James of Coatesville, PA, Mary Lee McClain, Howard McClain both of Kenneth Square, PA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
