Obituary For Josie Mae Mitchell Sims

MRS. JOSIE MAE MITCHELL SIMS – AGE 85, - of Dalton, Georgia passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at her residence with her family at her bedside. She was born on October 30, 1933 in Newnan, Georgia to the late Earlie Mitchell and Dorothy Paige Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Sims, daughter, Sheila Diana Sims, two sisters, Katie Moore, Mablean Ramsey, and a dear friend, Jessie Cleveland Bibbs. She was a member of Bethel A. M. E. Church and was retired from Five Star/ A& A Vending.

She is survived by her loving and devoted daughters, Rebekah Goodlett (John Dennard) of Dalton, Georgia, Glendolyn (Curtis) Teal of Stockbridge, Georgia, Betty Tom Sims (Allen Holcomb) of Trenton, Georgia, Patricia (Larry) McMichael, Mary Sims (Forrest Starks) of Dalton, and Teresa (Ralph) Cochran of Varnell, Georgia; one brother, George (Bobbie) Marshall of California; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; her grand dog, Lucky; dear friend, Mrs. Jennie Mitchell; special niece, Joyce (David) Clark; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, loving family, and friends.

Homegoing Celebration will be on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 1:30 P. M. at the Willis Funeral Home Chapel, 2011 Martin L. King, Jr. Blvd., Dalton, GA. with Rev. Erma Raymond as Eulogist and Pastor Mary Ramsey, officiating. Her remains will lie in state at the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 A. M. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 P. M. Interment, West Hill Cemetery. I loved me some Ms Josie I remember the last time I saw her a few years back on one of my last trips to Dalton I had went there to the house with a relative we have in common not gone mention no names but he always look like he need some sun on his pale face She was just as sweet then as always If she could have left a parting thought it would have been I pray we all be ready for His return She's got her ticket and has boarded that gospel train I say ain't it sweet just to know that one day we'll meet in the sweet bye and bye we'll be together after while ain't it sweet just to know that one day we will meet I pass GOD'S peace to all and pray GOD'S continued blessings fall down upon the Family

She was such a great woman. She loved her family valued her friends and coworkers. I would ALWAYS visit her whenever I came to Daltom. She will be missed
