Obituary For Leila Lee Duncan

The funeral services for the late Mrs. Leila Lee Duncan, who departed this life on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 12:00 noon from the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Isabella, Georgia with the Reverend Jaki S. Johnson, officiating. Burial will follow in the Shepard Memorial Garden Cemetery in Sylvester, Georgia.

Ms. Leila “Lee-Lee” Duncan was born on November 24, 1948 in Sylvester, Georgia to the late Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Lee, Sr. and Annie Lee Burrow Duncan.

Leila was educated in the Worth County Public School System. She accepted Jesus Christ into her life at an early age. She was a member of Brown Chapel C.M.E. Church in Sylvester, Georgia for many years. Later in her life, Leila joined the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Isabella, Georgia.

Leila was an amazing and loving mother. She worked many different jobs throughout her life to provide for her family. She retired from the Worth County School Nutrition Program in 2009, after fifteen years of service.

Leila gave up this busy walk of life on Sunday morning, September 1, 2019 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia. Her parents, Johnny and Annie Lee Duncan, a dear niece, Tallula Richey, and a nephew, Johnny Lee Duncan III, all have preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Voncile Dye of Charlotte, North Carolina, Valencia Katrina (Willie, Jr.) Currington of Sylvester, Georgia, Christopher (Valerie) Duncan of Moultrie, Georgia, Jarvis Duncan of Atlanta, Georgia; five grandchildren, Christopher Williams, Shabreka Duncan, Ariel Thomas, Jarterria Duncan, Jaylah Thomas; two great grandchildren; a sister, Annie (Robert) Richey of Atlanta, Georgia; a brother, Johnny Duncan, Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida; aunts, Fannie Royster of Buffalo, New York, Linda Snearl of Cleveland, Ohio ; a loving and devoted niece and nephew, Romona Duncan and Patrick Duncan; a special cousin, Jacqueline “Ann” Douglas; a life-long friend, Vianolia Lee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
