Mr. Porter was a member of Holden Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
He was a United States Army Veteran.
Charles attended Holden Chapel School and Foster Grove High School. He graduated from Boiling Springs High School and Rutledge College.
Mr. Porter was a master landscaper.
In addition to his mother survivors include: his sisters, Roberta T. Porter, Shirley P. (Ray) Posey, Dr. Janice M. Porter, Joyce D. Porter, Rhonda C. Porter all of Spartanburg, SC and Alisa P. (Joel) Rupe of Sylvania, OH; his brothers, Dr. John H. (Errie) Porter, James M. (Barbara) Porter, Eddie W. "Bo" (Robin) Porter and Comic O. Porter; his eight nieces; his ten nephews; his former wife, Renee C. Porter and her daughter, Monica Hewitt Bourn;his loving friend, Christine Salter and her children, Colette Salter and Tifanny (Ray) Jeter; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: two sisters, Minister Ida Mae Porter Hoque and Tyra M. Porter; two brothers, Fred A. Porter and Willie E. Porter; his maternal grandparents, Deacon Comic Smith and Mrs. Ruth Smith; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Alene Washington.
A Celebration of the Life of Charles Edward Porter will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Holden Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2260 Old Furnace Rd., Boiling Springs, SC. Dr. Antwion Yowe will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
