Obituary For Robert Earl Fox, Sr.

Robert Earl Fox,Sr. son of Annie Bell Fox and Willard Alston; was born in Lee County, North Carolina on May 1, 1945. He departed this life on August 23, 2019 with his daughter by his side at Christiana Hospital, Newark, Delaware.

Robert attended and was educated in the Lee County School System.

Robert joined Robinson Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church at an early age.

Upon adulthood, Robert decided to venture out to Newark, Delaware and worked for Aggregate Industries as a heavy equipment operator. Robert's career began at Rosecroft Race Track which led to an employment of 20+ years. During his employment, he was responsible for the maintenance of the racing surfaces at Rose Croft for purposes of racing and training. He maintained and supervised a staff that assisted with the upkeep of the tracks. He loved watching the horses race at a specific gait (a trot or pace) on the track.

Robert, affectionately known as "Shag" was very comical, always causing laughter and amusement when amongst family and friends. "Shag" loved to sing and it was nothing for him to breakout singing the lyrics of his favorite song "Somewhere Around God's Throne" by the Mighty Clouds of Joy. "Shag" kept on searching ‘til he found God's Throne…

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Brenda and son Rodney "Rocky" McKeithen.

His cherished memories are left to his daughter, Kim Fox of Smyrna, Delaware; and children whom he reared as his own; son, Kenneth McKeithen and wife Pamela of Sanford, NC and daughter, Vickie McKeithen-Sullivan and his son; Robert Fox, Jr. of Maryland; grandchildren, Lameka Fox, Deshawn Dixon, Tionne, Tavian, Tionte', Aryanna and Kamiya Sullivan all of Maryland; Joshua Hill, TreyVon and Tamari Ellison; two brothers, James Fox and wife Sarah of Broadway, NC; Ervin Fox and wife Mary of Sanford, NC; three nieces, Cynthia Fox-Everette, Debra Fox-McLean and Angela Fox of Sanford, NC; three nephews, Ervin Fox of Bronx, New York; David Fox of Greensboro, NC and Robert Fox of Sanford, NC and many relatives and friends.
