Obituary For Ms. Melissa Lane Johnson

Ms. Melissa Lane Johnson, 77, of Adel, Ga. transitioned on September 5th at Tift Regional Medical Center. Service is scheduled for Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Holy Community Church in Adel, GA at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be located in the Adel City Cemetery, and the repast will follow at Holy Community Church Social Hall.

On Thursday, September 5, 2019, God called home one of his humble servants. God whispered to Ms. Melissa to come enter into his heavenly kingdom.

Ms. Melissa L. Johnson was born on November 29, 1941 in Adel, GA to the parentage of the late Frank Lane, Sr. and Willie B. Harris. She was employed with the Cook School System where she worked with Environmental Services until retirement.

Ms. Melissa was a resident of Adel, GA for 77 years. She loved her community and was very involved. She believed in the Lord and worshipped her Holiness faith proudly. She served as a missionary and the church treasurer for many years until her health began to fail. Her friends, church members, and co-workers will remember her always for the life that she lived and the smile that she carried. Ms. Melissa was preceded in death by her parents, spouse: Mr. Willie James Johnson, Sr., one grandchild, and all of her siblings. She now leaves to cherish her memories her children, Carol (James) Jones, Dorothy Johnson, Maria Jones, Willie James (Carla) Johnson, Jr., Karl Johnson, Anthony (Felicia) Johnson, Teresa Johnson, and Wanda (Larry) McMillian; 31 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; 3 special nieces, Alice Lynch, Martha Woods, and Cora McCall; one special cousin, Eloise “Bumpy” Teague, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Please continue to pray for this family as they mourn the loss of their dear love one.
