Obituary For Dorothy Elmore

Mrs. Dorothy Elmore Means was born on December 23, 1933 in Spartanburg, SC. She peacefully departed this life on Friday, September 6, 2019 at her home.

Dorothy was the daughter of the late Tecora Morris and Robert Elmore, Sr. She was the widow of Willie H. Means, Jr.

At an early age, Dorothy joined Majority Baptist Church. Mrs. Means was a devoted member; she faithfully served and participated with the Olivia Hill Missionary Ministry, the Hospitality Ministry, the Senior Exercise Ministry and the Wednesday Morning Bible Study.

Mrs. Means was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Elmore, Jr. and Ozzie Rice.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: her beloved daughters, Rita T. Means of Boiling Springs, SC and Joyce A. Means of Spartanburg, SC; her cherished granddaughter, Jada Means Palmer of Raleigh, NC; and a host of dear relatives and friends.

A Celebration of the Blessed Life of Dorothy Elmore Means will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Majority Baptist Church, 400 Hudson L. Barksdale, Sr. Blvd., Spartanburg, SC. The Reverend Dr. Marcell Bush will officiate.

Mrs. Means will lie in state at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.

Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC.
