Windsor, SC - Reverend Isaiah Bussey, Jr. entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. The Home Going Services for Reverend Isaiah Bussey, Jr. will be conducted on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Thankful Grove Missionary Baptist Church 1810 Old Barnwell Rd., Williston, SC 29853, with Reverend Dr. Freddie L. Bush and Reverend Henry Murdaugh officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at 2:30 pm - 8:00 pm and Monday, September 23, 2019 at 9:00 am - 12:00 pm at Simmons Funeral Home of Williston, Inc.

Reverend Isaiah Bussey, Jr. was born on October 19, 1934 in Windsor, SC. He was the son of the late Isaiah Bussey, Sr. and Ivara Mae Minor Bussey. He was a graduate of Martha Schofield High School in 1953 and attended Morris Brown Theological Seminary and Shaw University. He married his high school sweetheart Betty Jane Dicks the same year. To this union four children were born, Marion James, Vivian, Judy and Kimberly.

Reverend Bussey was a well-known pastor, having been called into the ministry in 1966. Reverend Bussey was a well-known pastor, having been called into the ministry in 1966. He served as Pastor of First Deliverance Baptist Church in Charleston, SC, Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Walterboro, SC, Piney Grove Baptist Church, Walterboro, SC and retired from Pastoring, but not from preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, in 2017 from Second Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Barnwell, SC, where he led his flock for 14 years and was Pastor Emeritus. He was a member of the F.F.A. of B. Society.

Reverend Bussey loved to sing and began singing as a teenager with the "Rosebud Quartet" composed of his mother, his brother Jesse, his sister Beatrice and him. Later with the Southern Travelers Quartet.

Reverend Bussey was an educator. He taught Brick Mason for 15 years at Moultrie and Wando High School in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Reverend Bussey had his own business Bussey Brickwork where every summer he hired many of his student as brick laying apprentice. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Jesse and Calvin, two sisters; Mildred and Beatrice, son; Marion James, daughter,;Judy Ann.

Reverend Bussey leaves to cherish his loving memories: His wife of 66 years, Betty Jane Dicks Bussey, two daughters; Vivian (Prince) Walton and Kimberly Lewis, five grandchildren; Nicole Page, Melissa Nelson, Allen Walton, Jasmine Lewis, and Alesha Lewis, two great grandchildren; Ayanna Jade Walton and Malachi Page, four sisters in law; Martha Dicks, Inez Weathersbee, Angela Dicks and Emma Dicks, two brothers in law; Nathaniel (Betty) Dicks and Robert (Diane) Dicks, and a host of other relatives and friends.
