Obituary For Anita Rippy

Mrs. Anita Wright Rippy departed this life on Friday, September 20, 2019 at Atrium Health-Cleveland in Shelby, NC. She was born on August 25, 1953 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Willie Robinson and Ruth Wright.

Anita was a fun-loving free spirit who loved life. She worked in her earlier years as a seamstress. Anita later became a homemaker who dedicated her life to caring for her children. She enjoyed getting out daily going to visit and talk with family and friends. She spent a great deal of her days with her good friend, Ms. Jean Williams. She and Jean would sit and talk for hours while they waited for the Young and the Restless to come on. Anita was a great friend to many and will be missed.

In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Lemuel Butler; infant daughter, Elisha Anita Carpenter; a sister, Germaine Bell and brothers, Albert Gilliam and Talmadge Gilliam.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Lamont Carpenter (Teresa) and Cierra Rippy both of Shelby; brothers, Alton Gilliam and Leroy Robinson both of Shelby, Paul Bines and Michael Bines both of Statesville, NC and Willie Boykins of Shelby; sisters, Lucille Lipscomb, Lousie Whitworth, Sheila Pettis all of Shelby, Louré Jackie Boykins of High Point, NC, Evelyn Robinson of Boiling Springs, NC, Chellie Parks and Mildred Mason both of Shelby; grandchildren, Lamont J. Carpenter (Ana-Alisa) of Gastonia, NC, Jaquilla Byrd, Jamela Montgomery, Tracy Thurman, Jarica Montgomery, Joshua Montgomery, Tyler Carpenter and Jaylin Carpenter all of Shelby; great-grandchildren, Aiden Carson, Harmony Carpenter, Avery Carpenter and Lamont Carpenter, Jr; one aunt, Estelle Robinson of Shelby; special friend, Roland Parnell Howell of Shelby and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 1:30 PM at Walls Memorial Baptist Church in Shelby. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 1:30 PM at the church and other times at the home of her son, Lamont Carpenter, 811 Charles Rd. Shelby.
