Obituary For Stella Ward

Mrs. Stella Mauney Ward, 68, of Shelby, NC departed this life on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Peak Resources in Shelby. She was born in Cleveland County, NC on June 1, 1951 and was the fifth eldest daughter of the late George Albert Mauney and Lucille Shuford Mauney.

Stella was a 1969 graduate of Burns High School. She was formerly employed for a number of years at Ora Mill. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Lawndale where she sang on the choir before becoming disabled. Stella’s more personal ministry though was sending greeting cards to those who were bereaved and sick. Stella was a free spirit who was always full of life even through her disability and loved to laugh.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three sisters, Brenda Mauney Brown, Barbara Mauney Kimbell and Linda Kay Mauney.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband and love of her life, George Thomas Ward; three sisters, Alma Jean Briscoe of Lawndale, NC and Janice Shuford Kirkland (Johnny) and Mary Eskridge (Samuel, Jr.) both of Shelby and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church Lawndale. Burial will take place at church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM at the church and at other times 3600 Rube Spangler Road Lawndale NC.
