Obituary For Herman Denson

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 Herman Denson, Sr. was born on March 22, 1951 to Mr. Jack Harrison Denson and Mrs. Mamie Blue. The oldest of four children (Willie James Denson Golden, Louise Postell, and Shirley Hogan and his half sister the late Cassie Golden Grant) they had together. Also his brothers and sister Clayton Denson, Harrison Denson, Jr., Grady Denson, Charlie C. Denson, and Eloise Still. Herman graduated from Brooks County High School in 1971. Shortly after graduation he wed Lillie Mae Denson (Gosier) on August 21, 1971.

Herman and Lillie made the move to Atlanta, GA where he was employed as a welder for CSX Railroad until he retired 10 years later. After which Herman took a number of other jobs to support his loving family. During their 25 year stay in Atlanta their four children were born. Demetrius Denson (Nyoka), Hope Denson, Courtney Welch (Michael), and Herman Denson, Jr. Herman and Lillie have 13 grandchildren: Alyccia Denson, Tychanna Denson, Demetrius Denson, Jr., Trevion Welch, Deques Denson, Dekarius Denson, Ariana Twine, Deante Denson, Elisha Twine, Nathan Welch, Hermon Denson, Sariah Welch and Jacob Denson.

In 1995 Herman and Lillie made the move back to Valdosta, GA then later to Quitman, GA where he farmed and enjoyed life.

Herman also leaves behind several step brothers and sisters: Frank, Mary, Richard, Bobby Howard, William, John and Shirley Ann Golden along with a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial Service for Mr. Herman Denson, Sr. will be held Saturday, September 1, 2017 at 2:30 PM at Simmon Hill Baptist Church, Dixie, Georgia, Rev. James Huewitt, Pastor/Officiating.
