Obituary For Ervin Long

Funeral service for Mr. Ervin Jr. “Boot” Long will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Salem United Methodist Church, 5814 Old River Rd., Florence. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery, directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC.

Mr. Ervin Jr. “Boot” Long, the son of Thelma White Long and the late Ervin Long Sr., was born July 26, 1951 in Florence County. He departed this life Thursday, September 26, 2019.

Ervin was educated in Florence County Public School System. He graduated from Gibbs High School Class of 1968 in Pamplico, South Carolina. He attended the University of Maryland Eastern Shore located in Princess Anne, Maryland. He relocated to Long Island City, New York where he was employed by Palcal for twenty-five years.

Ervin joined Salem United Methodist Church in the Claussen Community and was a member of the Usher Board.

Ervin enjoyed spending time with his family and friends; was an avid bowler; enjoyed fishing; and helping people in the community.

Ervin was preceded in death by his father, Ervin Long, Sr.; and one brother, Jimmy L. Long.

Ervin leaves to cherish his fond memories: a loving son, Terrence (Misty) Long of Florence, South Carolina; four adorable grandchildren, Alexander, Alexis, Elijah, and Nevaeh all of Florence, South Carolina; a loving mother, Thelma W. Long of Florence, South Carolina; two brothers, Johnny (Christine) Long of Florence, South Carolina and Gene (Katheria) Long of Brooklyn, New York; two sisters, Doris (Reverend Ebbie) Abraham and Glories (Glenn) Barnes both of Florence, South Carolina; two uncles, Wilson White and John (Annabell) Myers both of Pamplico, South Carolina; four aunts, Joann Belin, Daisy Robinson, Flora Long, and Florrie Eaddy all of Pamplico, South Carolina; three special friends, Alexander Abraham, Johnny Ragin and Jefferey Baccus; a host of nephews; nieces; other relatives; and dear friends.

The family will receive friends at 3040 N. Old River Rd., Florence.
