Funeral services will be Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., Westhaven Funeral Home Chapel, 3580 Robinson Road, Jackson, MS 39209 with burial in Autumn Woods Cemetery, 4000 W. Northside Drive, Jackson, MS 39209.

Alma Jean Holmes Magee was born on September 30, 1926, the first of four children born to Vallard Wilbur Holmes and Mary Belle Taylor Holmes in Bolton, Yazoo County, Mississippi. On September 26, 2019, the Lord called her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Johnny Magee, sons, Lawrence A. Willis, Johnny Earl Magee, sons, Lawrence A. Ellis, Johnny Ear Magee, stepsons, Preston Magee, Paul Magee and stepdaughters, Jessie M. Bilbrew and Lynell M. Thompson.

In her early years, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She attended Oak Grove African Methodist Episcopal Church in Bolton, MS. In Jackson, she was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church and later attended Anderson United Methodist Church.

She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She not only expressed her love for her family friends, but also for her those in her community,especially those in need. She often stated that when she needed assistance, family and friends helped her, so, in turn she assisted those in the community she was able to help.

Throughout her life in Jackson, she worked in varying positions in the restaurant industry. In later years, she worked as a personal caregiver, a position which matched her caring personality well. She also enjoyed helping with church activities, family gatherings, talking to neighbors and friends, especially on the telephone.

Alma leaves to cherish her memories five sons, Patrick L. McCray (Rhonda), Gregory T. Magee (Charlene) of Ridgeland, MS, Keith B. Magee (Marilyn), Darel Q. Magee (Frankie) of Jackson, MS, Sharone M. Magee of Stockbridge, GA; two daughters, Barbara J. Holmes Trim, Pamela B. Anderson both of Jackson, MS, stepdaughters, Inez Jenkins of Jackson, MS; Juanita Frierson, Milwaukee, WI, stepson; Marvin Magee of Jackson, MS. twenty-three grandchildren; Lawrence Ellis, Jr., Janine "Readri" Lincoln, Gerald Epps, Donald Holmes, Natalie Holmes, Joseph Trim, Jr., Eric Trim, Michelle McCray, Kimberly McCray, Victoria Harris, Janell Kinnard, Jackie Magee, Breanna Magee, Keith B. Magee, Jr., Blake Magee, J'Bria Gilkey, Latasha Liddell, Carel Magee, Brandon Magee, Zavier Magee, Jalen Magee, Jasen Magee, Raven Magee and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, special friend, Caroline Harris and David Dillard.
