Obituary For Mr. Larry Allen Nelson

Mr. Larry Allen Nelson, 77, peacefully transitioned from this life to be with his heavenly father on Monday, September 30, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Health High Point Medical Center. He was born December 8, 1941 in Jamestown NC, the second of two children born to the late Wesley and Sadie Nelson. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Nelson.

Larry attended William Penn High School and graduated in 1960. After graduation, Larry enlisted in the U. S. Army where he served honourably.

Larry met the love of his life, Erma Jackson and the two married in 1976, and made High Point their home. Larry retired from Woodmark Originals in 2006, where he worked for over 30 years. Larry was a faithful member of Word of Life Tabernacle where he loved to praise the Lord. In his pastime Larry loved reading, fishing and spending time with his family. He was also an avid sports fan, and most importantly loved football. Larry touched the lives of many through his easy-going manner and gentle spirit.

Along with his beloved wife, Erma, Larry is survived by his son, Aaron Gaddy of Greensboro; a niece, Rosalyn Nelson of High Point; several sisters-in-law, Dora Harris of High Point, Louvenia McCormick and Johnsie Perkins of High Point, Donetta Melton and Garthinia Crowder of Wadesboro and Beulah Pratt of Morven. Larry was loved by many and leaves behind a host of cousins and friends to cherish his memory as well.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 5, 2019, at 4:00 p.m. at Word of Life Tabernacle. Interment will be held Monday, October 7, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Carolina Biblical Gardens. The family will receive family and friends at the church from 3:30 until 4:00 p.m.

Bro. Larry was my Sweetheart, he knew just how to encourage me (others) with his words, smile and hugs. He was a light beam at church (WOL Tabernacle), he brighten the corner where he sat! I will miss him, but I know Heaven is rejoicing!
