Obituary For Augusta Hunley

Home going celebration for Mrs. Augusta Hunley, 70, will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Terry's Mortuary Chapel. Minister Pamela Calhoun will be the eulogist. Interment will be in Morning Star Cemetery.

Mrs. Augusta Jackson Hunley began life’s journey on Saturday, March 26, 1949 to Jessie Jackson and Geraldine Groce Jackson in Talladega, Alabama.

Mrs. Hunley accepted Christ as her Lord and personal Savior at an early age and united with Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church and later became a member of Shekinah Glory Ministries under the leadership of Minister Pamela Calhoun. She received her education in Talladega City Schools and was a graduate of Westside High School. She was employed by Goldkist Poultry Plant and Tyson Foods. On December 24, 1968, Augusta married John E. Hunley.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, October 1, 2019, Mrs. Hunley answered the Master’s call. She was preceded in passing by her parents, Jessie and Geraldine Jackson; a brother, Charles Groce; and two sisters, Dianna Jackson and Nettie Jackson.

Mrs. Hunley leaves to continue her legacy: her husband, John E. Hunley of Talladega, Alabama; a son, Timothy Hunley of Talladega, Alabama; two daughters, LaTonya (Anthony) Payne of Birmingham, Alabama and Symeria Jackson of Talladega, Alabama; four grandchildren, Deandria Woodgett-Payne, Edward Isabell, Summer Collins and Zacharias Payne; a sister, Ruth Ann Thomason of Talladega, Alabama; a brother, Cassius (Rita) Jackson of Birmingham, Alabama; a special niece, Tiffany Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
