Obituary For Mattie Alice Banks

The funeral services for the late Mrs. Mattie Alice Banks of 1205 Doc Melton, Sr., Dr., Tifton, Georgia, who departed this life on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 12;00 noon from the Greater St. Luke Baptist Church in Ashburn, Georgia with the Pastor Samuel Edmondson officiating. Burial will follow in the Westview Memorial Cemetery in Ashburn, Georgia.

Mrs. Mattie Mary Alice Banks was born on January 14, 1946 in Jasper, Florida to the late Mr. and Mrs. Sammy Lee and Rosa Mae Riggins.

On November 15, 2007, Mattie was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. Bradford Banks.

Mattie attended public school in Florida. She worked as a Custodial Supervisor at the Econo Lodge, and retired after 30 years of service. She enjoyed her years of retirement in Orlando, Florida, and relocated to Georgia after the death of her husband and her health began to decline.

Mattie had a heart of gold and would give anyone the shirt off her back, if need be. She was full of love and laughter. If you were sad or feeling down, Mattie would definitely cheer you up. She always had a joke or something funny to say. Her pet peeve was a “grown” or disobedient child, and she didn’t mind putting that child “in check.” Mattie didn’t have any children of her own, but she had plenty of nieces and nephews to keep on the straight and narrow, and she loved them all the same.

The Lord called Mattie to Eternal Rest on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia, at the age of 73. Her parents, her husband, three brothers, Bill Office, Willie James Riggins, Bo-Pete Riggins, and three sisters, Bernice Riggins Lane, Annie Bell Riggins, and Tiny Riggins, have all preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memories a sister, Lillie Mae Riggins; a sister-in-law, Mae Liz Office; a brother-in-law, Jerry Lane; a very special friend, Morris Hill, a.k.a. “Pooh Bear”; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and great great nieces and great great nephews

The Bible at 1 Corinthians 15:26 shows that God views death as an enemy just like you do. May this be of comfort to you, at this time.
