Obituary For Teresa "Pre" Ann Chatman

A celebration of life for Ms. Teresa Ann "Pre" Chatman, 56, will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at The Word Center. Interment will be in Sycamore Church Cemetery. Ms. Chatman will lie in state at the church on hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2019 at the funeral home.

Ms. Teresa Ann “Pre” Chatman began life’s journey on Friday, May 3, 1963 to Deitrich Chatman and the late Leona Newell Curry in Talladega, Alabama.

Ms. Chatman accepted Christ as her Lord and personal Savior and united with Wesley Chapel AME Zion Church where she sang in the choir and served as a missionary. She received her education in Talladega City Schools and was a 1981 graduate of Talladega High School and continued her education at Alabama State University. During her professional career, Teresa was employed in a number of fields including substitute teaching, telemarketing and secretarial work.

On the evening of Friday, October 11, 2019, Ms. Chatman answered the Master’s call while she was a patient at Grandview Medical Center. She was preceded in passing by her mother, Leona Curry; stepmother, Murlene Chatman; and two siblings, Myrtis Curry and Michael Chatman.

Ms. Chatman leaves to continue her legacy: her father, Deitrich Chatman of Talladega, Alabama; five sisters, Gwendolyn (Ralph) Cade of Birmingham, Alabama, Sharon D. (Mann Lynch, Jr.) Curry, Rhonda Chatman, Myra (Clifford) Cross and Adriane Massingale of Talladega, Alabama; four brothers, Larry (Vanessa) Curry and Steven (Marcella) Curry of Talladega, Alabama and William (Rachel) Heard of Huntsville, Alabama and Tyrone Britt of Talladega, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
