Obituary For Mary Ruth Ward King

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 12:00 noon,New Hope M.B. Church, 106 E. Hamilton Street, Jackson, MS 39202 with burial in Garden Memorial Park, 8001 Highway 49, Jackson, MS 39209.

Mary Ruth King was born September 14, 1937 in Pelahatchie, Mississippi to the late Charlie and Erie Kersh King Ward.

At a young age Mary along with her family moved to Meridian, Mississippi where she accepted Christ at an early age and began her Christian journey at El Bethel Baptist Church under the watch of Pastor M.C. Thompson.

Mary attended Wechsler Elementary School, Carver Middle School, Harris High School and Meridian Junior College.

Mary met and married the love of her life Edward L. King. The family later moved to Jackson, Mississippi where she attended Jackson State University to further her education. Mary taught high school for several years in Flora, Mississippi.

Mary then became an insurance representative where she was one of the top agents at Reserve Life Insurance Company. She later returned to education where she worked as a substitute teacher until she decided to fully retire and enjoy her family.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; Erie and Charlie Ward, two brothers; Allen Ward and Johnny Ward and son, Jimmy Earl.

She leaves to cherish memories to a dedicated and beloved husband; Edward L. King, four daughters; Debra King Frazier of Jackson, Mississippi, Teresa King Ashmore (Howard) of Madison, MS, Sharon King Morton of Jackson, MS, Nakeithea King Harvey of Atlanta, GA, twelve grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, two aunts; Rosie N. Gulley ad Velma Ward, one uncle; Leon Ward and a host of family and friends.
