Alfonso Broxton

Alfonso Livingston Broxton Sr., was born September 4, 1931 to the late Samuel Broxton and Carrie Lee Broxton of (Ybor City), Tampa, Florida. Alfonso was called home and departed this life on October 11, 2019 at The Landings at Norcross, GA under the hospice of his son Alfonso Broxton II.

Alfonso was surrounded by many of his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews during his transition. His children shall remember the last days as joyous and memorable as he watched them relish in the past. His cherished sister Macie Hardee and beloved niece Sherri Ramsey arrived at his bedside, His sister Macie smiled upon his face on October 11, 2019 it was then that he released to eternal bliss.

In the gap of September 4, 1931 – October 11,2019

He attended the public school of Hillsborough County and Florida A&M University of Tallahassee, Florida where he earned a Bachelors and Masters Degree. He was commissioned a distinguished Military Graduate in the United States Army and served with the 82nd Airborne Division of Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, NC. Upon completion of his military service he returned to civilian life to work for the Florida School for Boys at Okeechobee, FL. Later he was employed with the public school system of Pinellas County FL. from which he retired after 30 years of service. He was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

He leaves a legacy and history of family roots to forever mark the memory of the name “BROXTON”.

Alfonso is the father of nine children. One son (Lewis Broxton) preceded him in death, Shevawn Broxton Young of Alpharetta, GA, Kimberly Thompson (Paul) of McDonough, GA, Elizabeth Baker (Curtis) of Woodstock, GA, Monique Edwards of Clearwater, FL, LaTonya Thomas (Timothy) of Midland, GA, Antoinette Coleman (Raymond) of Palm Coast, FL and Alfonso Broxton II (Jennie) of Hoschton, GA, Andre Samuel (India) of Dallas, TX, Two sisters Macie Hardee (Leroy-Deceased) of Tampa, FL, Carrie Belle Horne, Deceased (Francis) of Hampton, VA, One brother, Rev Dr. Eugene Broxton, Deceased (Orethea) of Ocala, FL, 17 Grand Children, Ashlee Coleman, Cameron Thompson, Camille Thompson, Chase Edwards, Courtney Edwards (Yohance), DeAndrey Samuel, Haley Auguste (Dhayrl), Hambric Edwards, Korianda Taylor, Levi Broxton, Nehemiah Taylor, Nicholas Thomas, Quintin Young, Raymond Coleman II, Symira Gilbert, Tamara Chavis (William), Timothy Thomas Jr.

He shall forever be remembered by a bountiful host of Nieces, Nephews, Family, Friends and professional associates.

All floral arrangements can be delivered to Coleman's Mortuary Chapel (308 N. Main St. Hastings, FL 32145) on Friday, October 25, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The Homegoing Celebration will be 11:00a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2019 at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Clearwater, FL, Rev. LeRoy Howard, Pastor. Mr. Broxton will lay in state at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. The final resting place for Mr. Broxton will be after the Homegoing Celebration in Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater, FL.
