Obituary For Jennie Haggins

As the night gave way to a new day, an Angel gained her wings. Our beloved, Jennie Haggins departed this life Wednesday, October 9, 2019.

Jennie was born April 9, 1932 to the late Finnison (Gray) and Annie Mae (Ward) Haggins, which preceded her in death.

She was a loving mother and devoted to following Christ. She attended Boston High School of Boston, Georgia and graduated in June 1950.

In her journey through life, she found joy in her family, her church, and close friends. She was a member of St John. AME Church where she wore many hats, serving as Choir Director, member of the Usher Board, Pastor’s Pulpit Aide Board, Steward Board and Stewardess Board. She leaves to cherish her memories of life, Three Loving Sons, Garry Haggins, Danny N. Haggins (Pauline) and Gregory M. Haggins; A Devoted and Loving daughter, Pamela M. Haggins; A Granddaughter she raised, Tamara C. L. Dunbar; Two Sisters, Pearlie Jackson, Boston, GA and Annie Haggins, Delray Beach, FL; Six Grandchildren, Avery Gatlin, Yvondria (Andrew) Wyche, Garry Haggins, Jr., Laketta Johnson, Danny Haggins, Jr. and Daniel Haggins; Twelve Great Grands; Five Great Great Grands; Three Great Great Great Grands; Goddaughters, Cynthia (Charlie) Stephens and Greta (Alvin) Williams; Special Friends, Sylvia Hampton, Gladys Spencer, Maggie Spencer, Jessie Brown and Mamie Law and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by three sisters, Rosa Mae, Carrie Mae and Bessie Lee

Funeral Service for Jennie Haggins will be held Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. John AME Church 352 Main Street, Boston, GA Public Viewing, Friday, October 18, 2019: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM; Burial: Boston Community Cemetery, Boston, Georgia.

I remember her when St. John AME conducted Vacation Bible school and the Annual Easter program. This was the highlight of many young people when I was growing up in Boston. It is my prayer that the very God of Peace and comfort will strengthen the family during this difficult time.
