Obituary For Mr. Vernon Howard Green

Mr. Vernon Howard “Bummie” Green departed this earthly life for eternity on Wednesday, October 15, 2019 at his residence. He was born on January 9, 1956 to Mr. & Mrs. Douglas Green. His health had been declining for the last six months. He was preceded in death by his father, brother, Bobby Green; grandmother, Mrs. Annie M. Davis.

Vernon was educated in the Guilford County School System, graduating from T.W. Andrews in the class of 1973. He was a very gifted artist and enjoyed watching wrestling with his brother, Douglas. Vernon, known a “Bummie” was very close and loyal to his family. He was a dedicated and dependable caregiver for his mother and stepfather.

Vernon was employed with the City of High Point for many years as a custodian and a painter.

Vernon leaves to cherish his memory his mother and step-father, Mr. & Mrs. Thomas (Catherine) Bell of the home; his siblings, Mr. Douglas Green, Mr. James A. (Sharon) Green both of High Point, NC, Mr. Larry Green of Greensboro, NC, Mrs. Sarah “Cat” (Henry) Young, Mrs. Eva (Beebe) Bryant both of High Point, NC and Timothy Green of High Point, NC; daughter, Aisha Eccles of High Point, NC and son, Nigel (Krysta) Fields of Las Vegas, NV; ten grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts and friends.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 716 Leonard Avenue. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
