Obituary For Celia Alberta Pate

Life Reflection Mrs. Celia Alberta Walker Pate was born on October 1, 1929, to the late Charlie and Mae Emma Walker. She was the epitome of a serving saint with a heart of gold that was evident through her beautiful smile. She was the fifth of six children. Mrs. Celia was preceded in death by: a daughter, Margaret Lois Pate; sisters, Josie Harris, Nadine Collier, Ruth Walker, and Lylia Mae Walker; and one brother, Charlie West Walker. Celia confessed CHRIST at an early age and joined Sugar Hill AME Church. She attended school at the Bethel Church School. Celia was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her lifer, Bennie W. Pate, Sr. on November 1, 1952. To unite her family, she joined Bethel Baptist Church with her husband, where she served faithfully until her health declined. She was a member of the Usher Board and the Hospitality Committee. Everyone knew her as Big Mamma. She loved to cook and spend time with her family, extended family, and friends. Every time there was a family gathering, she cooked and fed everybody. No one was a stranger to her, and no one left her home hungry. She loved her family very much. She was summoned and answered the call of our Heavenly Father to surrender this mortal walk of life in exchange for immortality on Saturday, October 12, 2019. From this day on, she will walk with the Supreme and Omnipotent Being Forever. The memories of her life will be cherished forever by: her husband of 67 years, Bennie W. Pate, Sr.; six children, Wilton (Sandra) Pate of Forest Park, Georgia, Bennie W. Pate, Jr., Darlene Pate, Verlene (Kenneth) Folson, Mary (Larry) Smith, and Jerome (Linda) Pate, all of Barnesville, Georgia; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one god-granddaughter; one sister-in-law, Annie B. Murphy; brother-in-law, Mr. Robert Harris of Detroit, Michigan; one devoted niece, Johnnie Mae Vaughn; one devoted nephew, Hillman Murphy; a faithful family friend, Lisa Caslin, all of Barnesville, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends who will all miss her immensely.
