Delores Redd Saul

On October 15, 2019, God reached down and picked a beautiful rose from his garden, Delores Redd Saul at King’s Grant, Martinsville, VA. Delores was born, December 30, 1933 in Henry County, VA to the late Harrison Redd, Sr. and Virginia Brown Eggleston Redd.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Dr. Slater Saul, a sister, Olivia Redd Guerrant, and two brothers-in-law, Robert McKinley Scales and William H. Watkins.

Delores was educated in Henry County and graduated from George Washington Carver High School, Class of 1953. Delores attended Johnson C. Smith University, Charlotte, NC, and completed her education at Community Hospital School of Nursing in Wilmington, NC, in 1958. Delores’ career extended throughout North Carolina, Virginia, and Washington DC. She and her husband, Dr. Saul worked closely on a daily basis operating a successful OB GYN Medical Practice in Norfolk VA.

Delores accepted Christ at a young age at St. Luke’s Holy Catholic Church. She was a loving wife, a devoted sister, a caring aunt, and a compassionate friend. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to many countries such as Egypt, Italy, Russia, Dubai, Mexico, and Holland. She also enjoyed cruising across the Atlantic Ocean and baking cakes.

Delores desired helping others, which led her to a career as a Registered Nurse for 50 years. Her warm and kind spirit touched many lives and she will always be remembered.

She leaves to cherish her memories two sisters Leadell R. Watkins of Axton, VA, Dorothy R. Scales of Stoneville, NC, one brother Harrison (Dorothy) Redd, Jr. of Martinsville, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at The C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home with Dr.Thurman O. Echols, Jr., eulogist. Interment will follow in the Redd Family Cemetery.
