Obituary For Azzie Baker

Miss Azzie Lee Baker went home to be with the Lord on Sunday October 20, 2019 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center in Shelby. She was born on June 14, 1930 in Chesterfield County, SC to the late Luther Baker and Fannie Smith Baker Middlebrooks. Miss Baker was a member of Palmer Grove Baptist Church. She was a very humorous person who could always make you laugh. She loved eating; her specialties included eating barbeque, hot dogs, pork rinds, bologna sandwiches with mustard!. She enjoyed going to the bible book store and was a collector of bibles and crosses. She loved gospel singing and loved to pray. Lastly, she loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Eunice Russell, Nellie Cornwell, Dora Surratt and Eula Mae Price and four brothers, Fletcher Baker, Luther Baker, Jr., Jessie Baker and James Middlebrooks.

She leaves to cherish her memory one sister, Fannie Corrine Duncan; one brother, Charles Middlebrooks and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Palmer Grove Baptist Church at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM at the church and other times at the home of her great-niece, Carolyn Brown, 1903 South Oakhurst Drive Shelby. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
