Obituary For Deacon L.A. Brister

Even as our houses are not made to withstand all storms, our bodies are not made to withstand forever the ravages of life. In sickness, pain and death, we look to God for relief, for we know that our God is a very help in trouble."

Today, we celebrate the homegoing of a very special servant, Deacon L.A. Brister. His life's work spread from his family, to his friends and his church. As a member of the church, his testimony was always constructive and faithful. His eighty four life journey began on June 13, 1935 in Kosciusko, Mississippi. After moving back to Baton Rouge he united with the New Mount Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor David Williams. He served faithfully as a Deacon and he always had a jubilant spirit even when he wasn't feeling well.

Deacon Brister was a loving man who had a giving heart. he love to shop, look good and cook. One of the greatest joys of his life was spending time with his family and friends.

Guest Book

He is deeply missed by anyone who came to know him.He was loved and respected. He carried himself with pride and dignity even as he courageously battled illness that threatened him without let up.He loved life and laughter and held on to his independence until his health robbed him of it.He loved outdoors although not a fisherman. He admired gods creations, and enjoyed the warmth of a Spring day.He was always willing to teach me the value of hard work.
