Obituary For Raleigh David Harris, Sr.

Raleigh David Harris, Sr. 72, was born in Canton, MS. on August 17, 1947. He was the eldest of seven children born to Olivia Harris Handford, who proceeded him in death.Two sisters, Elizabeth Forrest, Betty Gaines, one brother John D. Handford Jr. whom also proceeded him in death. He attended school in the Canton area before relocating to the Coast at the age of 19 years old. Upon relocating to the Coast he was employed by the Old Pepsi Cola Company in Pascagoula, MS. He later became employed by Longshore Man Local 1752. Raleigh was also a dedicated employee of Holder Wells, Heritage Funeral Home and Robinson's Funeral Services until he became disabled. Raleigh was a faithful member of St. Paul United Methodist Church until his health failed. Raleigh is survived by seven children. Four sons - Raleigh ( La'Onya ) Harris, Jr. of Madisonville, Kentucky, Tyrone Baker of Mobile, AL., Devonte and Keylon Lofton both of Moss Point, MS; three daughters - Arteza Owens and Kelly Franklin both of Gautier, MS.; Olibbie ( Dynnie ) Prince of Mobile, AL. Two sisters - Earlene Bell, Maggie Lee Handford and one devoted younger brother Edward ( Jameylynn ) Handford all of Moss Point, MS. Twenty-three grandchildren and four great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A viewing will be held 5-7 PM Friday November 1, 2019 at Robinson’s Friendly Funeral Home Chapel 4300 Main St. Moss Point, MS. 39563. Funeral services will be held Saturday November 2, 2019 at St. Paul United Methodist Church 3724 Davis St. Moss Point, MS. 39563. Visitation will be from 12-1 PM and funeral services will promptly at 1 PM. Rev. Peggy Gibson officiating. Interment would will be at Machpelah Cemetery.
