Obituary For Shirley Ann Martin Ellington

Mrs. Shirley Martin Ellington, 53, of Eden, died November 1, 2019. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 11, 2019 at Perry-Spencer Memorial Chapel in Eden, N C. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p. m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Shirley Ann Martin Ellington, daughter of the late Will S. Martin and Evelyn Martin Wray was born in Rockingham County September 10, 1966. She was married to the late Walter L. Ellington, Sr. and to their union one son was born. She departed this life on November 1, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Center, Winston Salem, NC. The family moved to Cascade, Virginia where Shirley began her education in the Pittsylvania County School System. Shirley loved to read and work crossword and word puzzles. Every year she would send pocket calendars to family members for Christmas. The calendars always had a positive and uplifting theme. The family will surely miss her as they remember her love and kindness. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Troy L. Martin. She leaves to cherish her memory: her darling son; Walter L. Ellington “LJ, Jr., her mother; Mrs. Evelyn M. Wray both of Eden, NC, two brothers; Daryl Martin of Danville, VA, Christopher Martin of Marietta, GA, four sisters; Patricia Silva, Victoria Calloway both of Danville, VA, Veronica Martin of Marietta, GA, Stacey Martin of Richmond, VA, two uncles; Allin Martin of Cascade, VA, Milton Perkins, Jr. of Lynchburg, VA, three aunts; Mamie M. Paden of Detroit, MI, Chanie Wilkerson and Charlene Doyle both of Cascade, VA, a special friend; Pointe, host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
